Nichole Nordeman – Every Mile Mattered
If you haven’t heard of Nicole Nordeman before, you’re missing out. She pours her heart out in every song that she sings. And in her latest album, Every Mile Mattered, nothing has changed. She leaves the listener with a little piece of her.
Each one of the songs on the album touches a place in everyone who’s ever had a hurt reminding them that there’s a God above who not only hears the cry of his child but who also cares enough to allow that child to crawl up in His lap and cry.
These are the songs that children would sing if they could write them. It’s the honest cry for unconditional love from a Father willing to give it. It’s how new Christians feel but don’t know how to express. It’s the yearning of every heart.
All the songs were new to me except the melodic remaking of the U2 song Beautiful Day done mostly with voices. The style really allows you to hear what the song is saying.
The song that touched me the most was Slow Down, Nicole’s duet with her daughter, Pepper. It’s a reminiscing of parenthood. It’s such a treasure for a mother to create something so beautiful with her child. The words are enough to make a parent cry thinking of the memories gone by so very fast.
To say that Nicole hit this one out of the park is an understatement. Every one of her fans is going to love this album and she’s going to find a whole new group of fans who love her music once they hear Every Mile Mattered.
