How To Get The Best Shave Ever
If you’re anything like me, you’ve been shaving your legs and underarms for a L O N G time. But did you know that you’ve been doing it wrong the whole time? I want to share with you how you can get the best shave ever with these simple steps.
Did you know?
The best time to shave it NOT first thing in the morning, but after you’ve been up for awhile and even better in the evening. Because of leg swelling overnight, your hair actually is more hidden earlier in the day.
You need to stop using those single blade razors. You will never get a great shave with one of those and I found that I got razor burn using them. Find a good 3 blade razor for the best and most cost-effective shave.
The second thing you need to do is find a good shaving medium. Soap is ok and shaving cream is over-priced. Here’s what I found works well for me.

You will get a closer shave if you exfoliate your legs and underarms beforehand with a rough washcloth or shower scrubby. By washing first, this will release the hair and have it standing at attention.
I’ve found a good DIY recipe for a shave soap that is inexpensive and completely customizable. All you need is Castile soap and water. You can add essential oil if you want something with a good scent or for medicinal purposes. Are you unsure which oil to use? I’m partial to THESE essential oils.
I use a 20 oz plastic water bottle from the dollar store to keep the shower soap in because it won’t break should I drop it and it has an easy open and close top.
All you need to do now is take a shower. Wash your hair and body first. Let that steam soften things up before you exfoliate. Gently exfoliate with a washcloth or shower scrubby and your favorite body wash. Once you’ve done all that, you’re ready to shave.
You can pour some of your shave soap into your hand and soap up a leg. You don’t need very much soap. The best part about this shave soap is that it’s really soapy and slick.
Did you know?
By bending your knee to an almost 90 degree angle and tightening your skin, you’ll be able to shave your knees without nicks and cuts.
Finish up by applying a really good moisturizing lotion or oil immediately after drying off to make your legs look their best. And to keep your legs looking great, moisturize every day before getting dressed.
It really is that easy and I can guarantee that you’ll be pleased with your new shaving routine if you try this one.
DIY Shave Soap Recipe
- 1 cup of Castile soap
- 1 cup of water
- 20 drops of your favorite 100% pure essential oil (I like lavender)
- Add all of the ingredients in a 20 oz plastic water bottle and gently mix by shaking. You’ll need to gently shake the bottle each time you use the shave soap just to be sure it hasn’t separated.
