Good Leaders Ask Great Questions

Good Leaders Ask Great Questions by John Maxwell

Good Leaders Ask Great Questions by John C. Maxwell

Hachette Book Group’s publication of John C. Maxwell’s latest leadership book entitled Good Leaders Ask Great Questions is one of those essential guides for any current or prospective leader to not only read but get deep into her or his heart if they wish to become the transcendent kind of leader that one aspires to in the beginning of any assignment.

Accurately subtitled, “Your Foundation for Successful Leadership”, Maxwell draws on his decades of business and ministry expertise to put together a volume that truly is a gift for anyone trying to build, redirect, repair, or found a new or floundering organization of any size.

Every issue from self-management and, yes, self-leadership (and there is a difference), qualitative listening skills, how and when to apply them and when to part company with certain people or the organization itself are all addressed with sound reasons based on Maxwell’s first-hand experience.

Beyond self-leadership, the leader is coached in other important areas like conflict resolution, succeeding under poor leadership, and succession planning when you are the one preparing to leave. How to select the best people for the leadership positions you want to fill in your organization and many other transitions.

Those who have read any of Maxwell’s other books like the 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership will find that this builds on that foundation and there are many new things to be learned, as you add this to your leadership library. As I read this, I found myself saying, and often, how I wished I had this at the beginning of my career 35 years ago and not toward retirement. One way or the other, though, you will find it of great value once applied.

The reader will find this a valuable and often used resource for dealing with all sorts of people in the ladders of your organization and, as with all of John C. Maxwell’s books, I highly recommend it for personal use and for training your staff.
