None Like Him – 10 Ways God is Different From Us Giveaway
There is none like you, O Lord; you are great, and your name is great in might. ~ Jeremiah 10:6
In her book None Like Him, Jen Wilkin tells us about 10 ways that God is different from us. And, frankly, different is a good thing, because, unlike God, I can’t be any of these things ~
God is INFINITE
~ He is the God of no limits
God is INCOMPREHENSIBLE
~ He is the God of infinite mercy
God is SELF-EXISTENT
~ He is the God of infinite creativity
God is SELF-SUFFICIENT
~ He is the God of infinite provision
God is ETERNAL
~ He is the God of infinite days
God is IMMUTABLE
~ He is the God of infinite sameness
God is OMNIPRESENT
~ He is the God of infinite place
God is OMNISCIENT
~ He is the God of infinite knowledge
God is OMNIPOTENT
~ He is the God of infinite power
God is SOVEREIGN
~ He is the God of infinite rule
Jen Wilkin uses personal stories to explain how there is none like God nor is there anyway that any of us could be. We are limited creatures – not meant to do this life alone, but with an amazing Father. We strive to be like Him, but fail in every way.
Each chapter addresses one of the 10 ways that God is different than us. At the end of each chapter, she gives us verses for mediation, questions for reflection, and an opportunity to write a pray appropriate to that chapter. At the end of the book, there are notes and a list of the scripture verses in the book. There are even blank pages in the back of the book for your to continue your notes.
I see None Like Him as a book that could be read over and over for devotions. It would make a great women’s Bible study or book club selection.
The amazing thing is that when we give up who we desire to be to the Lord of all creation, we gain this even greater freedom.
