Have I Got A Sweet Deal For You #Giveaway!

Maple Tapper - sweet

Have I Got A Sweet Deal For You Giveaway!

If you think that the sickly sweet Log Cabin or Mrs. Butterworths is a great pancake or waffle syrup, then you’ve never had the real deal.  Those manufactured syrups contain ingredients as high fructose corn syrup, cellulose gum, and caramel coloring.  Appetizing huh?

Maple syrup doesn’t come from a big company, it comes from the sugar maple.

The sugar maple can be found in the upper midwest, the northeastern United States, and Canada.  In the United States, syrup is primarily mass-produced in Vermont.  The largest overall syrup producer, however, is Canada.  During this time of the year, the sap starts to flow and maple tappers all over the area start collecting sap for maple syrup making.

Don’t miss another sweet maple syrup season, when you can make your own syrup.  It’s easy.  It’s a great lesson for homeschoolers.  Or a wonderful way for your family to do something together.

Maple Tapper has everything you need, including the instructions.  If you’re not sure if making your own sweet syrup is for you, you might want to check out Maple Tapper’s free quick e-guide for more information.  This link will take you to their newsletter sign up form and you’ll automatically get a link to the book after you sign up. I can promise you that you will not be subjected to spam or anything annoying.

Did you know that pure maple syrup can have 300 different flavors?  That it takes 40 gallons of sap to make 1 gallon of syrup.  Syrup is graded by color.  The richer and darker the color, the stronger the taste.  Your homeschoolers or classroom will learn many interesting facts about where syrup comes from, how it’s made, and, in turn, have a new respect for where their food comes from.

Real maple syrup contains nutritious vitamins, minerals, and amino acids.  It’s lower on the glycemic index than refined table sugar.  It contains a large number of antioxidants.  Maple syrup is a good alternative to other sweeteners.

Once you’ve tapped your trees and obtained your sap-turned-syrup, Maple Tapper even has some tasty recipes for you to test your newfound liquid gold.  You’ll find recipes to impress even the pickiest palate.  A search of recipes on the internet will get your thousands of breakfast, lunch, dinner, appetizer, and desserts.

When I was growing up, my grandparents lived in Vermont on a dirt road that lead to the Sugar Shack.  In that shake was make the sweet, pure maple syrup.  The house was hot.  I mean, It. Was. HOT as the syrup maker  boiled down the sap into syrup.

I had the opportunity to go back this year and visit the area.  And there it was, the Sugar Shake, long past its prime.
