Choosing Faith Over Fear

Faith Over Fear

You don’t have to be perfect to be used by God. ~ Rick Warren

Captive is a movie based on the amazing true story about Ashley Smith (Kate Mara), a widow struggling to overcome addiction to crystal meth.  She’s kidnapped by Brian Nichols (David Oyelowo), after his violent escape from police custody in Atlanta, Georgia.

They both discover that there is a purpose for their lives and hope in the midst of chaos as Ashley reads from Rick Warren’s book, The Purpose Driven Life.

This movie is 96 minutes of the edge-of-your-seat movie without a whole bunch of preaching.  Christians, as well as non-Christians, can enjoy the story and it doesn’t come across as preachy or overly Christian.

The movie is rated PG-13 for violence and drug use, but you can feel safe showing to your kids, middle school and older.  There’s no inappropriate language and no nudity.

  1. I so love inspirational movies and books! So much of the time, the world seems to celebrate the lowest humanity can sink to. Let us celebrate the highest we can achieve through faith and perseverance!

  2. my favorite movie would have to be fireproof because it just shows how you can ruin your marriage and think of things you dont need to and forget what matters most and why you married your spouse and the reasons you fell in love with them..Great message!!!
