I imagine you’re telling yourself that there couldn’t possibly between any connection between tires, flowers, and love, but I bet I can prove you wrong.
The week of New Year’s, my son was home from school on break and my husband and I were working. I asked my son, who is studying to be a mechanic, to take my car over to the tire place to get me four new tires. My tires were last replaced in 2006! It’s amazing that they still have tread on them. He agreed he would take my car after he worked at the food pantry that my dad runs.
I came home from work that day to four new tires and these:
How lucky can one mom be?! He had brought me home some of the carnations that they had received at the food pantry. What a great kid!
So, what do new tires and flowers tell us about love? My son agreed to my request for him to get me new tires out of love and obedience. But, he brought me home flowers because he loved me. He didn’t do it out of any sense of duty or obedience.
See, children are a gift from the Lord.
The children born to us are our special reward.
