Product Reviews – “Share, Love, Celebrate the Best of P and G” Program

I received four Proctor & Gamble products in the mail from SheSpeaks.

IMG_20130425_175211_387-1The first product that I tried was CoverGirl Outlast Double Lip Shine.  I was excited because I had been wanting to try a product like this, but the price is prohibitive when it’s to try only.  The color was beautiful!  It was like it was picked for me.

IMG_20130427_084705_109I had my first problem at work while drinking my coffee.

IMG_20130426_074757_563You can clearly see the lip print on my cup and the little “pilly” pieces.  Here are some more pictures of the pilling that are actually on my lips.

IMG_20130426_081514_733-1 IMG_20130427_122631_292My lips felt like they had sand on them after only one hour on my lips.  I’m pretty disappointed with the product.  I know that my mother wears a long-lasting lip product and there’s no way that it does this.  I can not recommend this product to anyone.

The next product I tried was Olay Total Effects 7in1 Advanced Anti-Aging Body Wash.  I used this product 3 times in the shower. Each time after I finished washing with it, I felt like I was covered in wax. I don’t feel like this did anything for me and I didn’t feel clean either.  I would absolutely not use this product again and I can’t recommend it to anyone.

Capture

The next product that I tried was Tide To Go.  Now, THIS is a great product!  I was able to use it on a couple of little stains that go on a shirt after eating out.  After I located the spots, I used the Tide To Go on it, and let it dry.  Afterwards, the stains were gone!  I whole-heartedly recommend this product!

The final product that I received was Gillette Fusion ProSeries Irritation Defense Soothing Moisturizer.  I gave it to my husband to use.  He said it was “okay” and he could live without it.  He used it after using his electric razor.  So, the rating for that was just “meh”.

Product Review – Garnier Skin Renew Dark Spot Peel

2013-02-08_17-39-57_624

I’m doing another product review. This time it’s Garnier Skin Renew Dark Spot Peel. I have a love-hate relationship with my skin. I want to love it, but the coloring makes me hate it. Here are my before pictures; first the left side and then the right side of my face.

020813-L

020813-RI’ve been told it’s sun damage and it will go away when I stop getting sun.  But that didn’t work.  I’ve been told it’s due to hormones, but after a hysterectomy and a year with no estrogen, that didn’t work either.  I’m sure some of it is scarring, but that’s not causing the brown spots.

I’ve gotten advise from other women who have had professional chemical peels, but I’m afraid to use something so harsh on my face and they cost a lot of money if you want to go to a reputable doctor.  So, I haven’t done anything about it.  That is until I got this opportunity.  So, this blog post is going to be added on to every week until I finish the product.  Here goes…

WEEK ONE

week2-Rweek2-LWEEK TWO

week3-L week3-RWEEK THREE

Week4-L Week4-RWEEK FOUR

week5-L week5-RIn case you see it too, I’ve put the before and after pictures together from the start to the finish.

before and after faceI used the Garnier Skin Renew Dark Spot Peel every night after I had washed my face with the Neutrogena bar soap.  Every morning, after I washed my face with the Neutrogena soap, I used Neoteric Cosmetics’ Alpha-Hydrox Enhanced Cream 10% Glycolic AHA Anti-wrinkle before I put on my makeup.  I can match up the patching from the before photo to the patching on the after photo.

It’s my opinion that the Garnier Skin Renew Dark Spot Peel DOES NOT do what it advertises.  I will continue to use my bottle because I have so much left and I will correct this statement should I be proven wrong, but I would not spend the money on product that doesn’t deliver.

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received Garnier Skin Renew Dark Spot Peel for free from the BzzAgent. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. Product Review – Garnier Olia

I had the opportunity to do a product test and review on Garnier’s newest hair color product, Olia.  I jumped at the opportunity because I had already used Olia once after seeing it at Target about 6 weeks ago.  I wasn’t impressed with the product then, but my opinion has since improved with this recent application.

Here’s the before picture.  I had my hair cut pretty short last week, so what you’re seeing it mostly my own hair color.  Any red hints are what was left of the first application of Garnier Olia.

2013-02-19_21-21-11_850I chose Intense Red (6.60).

2013-02-21_06-04-52_699Here’s what’s in the box.  I really like their applicator bottle, but it’s a little hard to hold and shake.  First, you add the developer

2013-02-21_06-05-25_576Then, the colorant

2013-02-21_06-06-25_226You put the top on and shake it up very, very well, and apply

2013-02-21_06-09-33_847The color comes out foamy, which makes it drip less.

Here’s what it looks like after applied all over my hair

2013-02-21_06-14-16_153After waiting the appropriate time (30 minutes on the directions), here’s what it looked like

2013-02-21_06-48-19_721I got into the shower and washed the product from my hair.  I have been coloring my own hair for about 15 years.  I am not a newbie.  The first time I used this product, for about 4 days, I still had color bleeding in the shower.  This time, I did not.  I washed my hair as instructed and took a second shower later in the day.  I only had a little bit of color bleed, which is easy to tell in your shampoo foam.  This morning, my third shower, there was hardly any.

Here’s my still-wet hair after color

2013-02-21_07-13-43_476My only complaint about Garnier Olia was that the color stained the skin.  My regular color is a Garnier product and this never happens with that product.  It was so noticeable, my husband and son actually said something about it.

2013-02-21_07-17-10_5552013-02-21_07-18-25_825But, look at the results…FABULOUS!

2013-02-21_07-28-41_1522013-02-21_07-29-13_604This most recent use of Garnier Olia has changed my mind about it.  I wasn’t crazy about the product with the first usage, but this time was an improved experience.  I have gotten many compliments on the color; many more than with my usual color.

Garnier Olia comes in 21 vibrant colors in shades of black, red, brown, and blonde.  It’s priced around $8.99.

BeforeAfterFive days after I’ve colored my hair, I’m still having bleed-through color on my towels.  I’m not liking that because I’ve just bought new towels and the red will ruin them.  I dried my hair on my t-shirt.
